After gathering himself, Tom popped the door open and stepped out onto the sidewalk of their well kempt property. He was proud of the house they had built. It was everything they had always wanted in a home. Tom loved doing yard work, and his efforts in keeping the yard up were obvious to others,. Tom looked at the yard and slowly shook his head knowing that this was no longer a priority. As he grabbed the railing leading up the steps, he felt the peeling paint on the iron rail and reflected on how many times he was going to get to the chore of repainting.
